Respond. Don’t react.
Reactions are mostly emotional outbursts. They are in the moment and don’t take into consideration the long-term effects of what we do or say. They’re mostly driven by our strong will to defend or protect ourselves or someone else. They are based on the beliefs, biases, and prejudices of the unconscious mind. And in most cases, they lead to regrets.
A response, on the other hand, takes into consideration the well-being of not only us but also, those around us. It weighs the long-term effects and stays in line with our core values. It’s based on information from both the conscious mind and the unconscious mind.
Therefore, give a pause. Think in a holistic way. It’ll give you a better perspective and help you balance your emotions. Convert your reactions into responses. You’ll gain more respect, credibility, confidence, and an enhanced sense of self-worth. Practice this & see your life will change for the best.
